Changing the Default Currency (Dollar) in WP Travel Engine
Change your trip prices and checkout from the default US dollar to the currency your business actually charges in, in a few clicks.
Why you might need to change this
When you first install WP Travel Engine, it shows all trip prices in US dollars. That works fine if you charge travelers in dollars. But if you run tours in Nepal, India, Thailand, or anywhere else, you'll want your prices in your own currency.
This one setting lets you switch the currency your entire site uses for trip pricing and checkout. You won't need to touch any code or hire anyone to do it.
Before you start, make sure you can log in to your WordPress dashboard. That's the admin area of your website, usually found at yoursite.com/wp-admin.
Change the payment currency
This is the setting that controls which currency your site uses for everything. Trip prices, the price display on your trip pages, and the checkout where travelers pay all follow this one choice.
Say you run a 3-day trek in the Himalayas and charge travelers in Nepalese Rupees. This is the setting you'd change so your prices show in rupees instead of dollars.
Open the currency settings
In your WordPress dashboard, go to WP Travel Engine > Settings > Currency > General on the left sidebar.
This takes you to the page where all currency settings live.
Find the Payment Currency field
Look for the Payment Currency dropdown on this page.
It lists every currency WP Travel Engine supports.
Choose your currency
Open the dropdown and pick the currency your business charges customers in.
For example, if you run day tours in Thailand, you'd select Thai Baht. If you sell multi-day packages to international travelers, you might keep US Dollar.
Save your changes
Click Save Settings.
Your trip prices, the price display on trip pages, and checkout will now all use the currency you selected. That's all there is to it.
Before you switch, check that your payment gateway supports the currency you're choosing. A payment gateway is the service that processes the actual charge when a traveler books, like Stripe, PayPal, or Razorpay. If your gateway doesn't support the currency you picked, checkout won't work for your customers. You can check this in your gateway's documentation or ask their support team.
