Navigation Menu Widget

Overview

A navigation menu is the row of links you see at the top of most websites. It usually has things like Home, Trips, About, and Contact. It helps visitors move around your site without having to type a web address.

The Navigation Menu widget lets you place one of these menus on any page you build with Elementor. A widget is a small building block in Elementor that adds one specific feature to your page. In this case, it adds a menu.

Say you built a custom landing page for your summer trekking season. You want the same menu bar at the top so visitors can jump to your trips or contact page. This widget puts it there.

What you'll need before you start

You'll need two things ready:

• Elementor installed and active on your WordPress site
• A WordPress menu already created (menus are built under Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard, which you'll find in the left sidebar)

How to add the Navigation Menu widget to a page

General settings

The general settings appear on the left side of the Elementor editor when you click on the Navigation Menu widget. Here's what each option does.

Select menu

Choose the menu you want to display from the dropdown. Only menus that already exist under Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard appear in this list.

If you have one menu for your main site navigation (Home, Trips, About) and another for footer links (Privacy Policy, Terms), you'd pick the one that fits where this widget sits on the page.

Menu direction

This controls whether the menu links go across or down:

• Row (Horizontal) - menu items appear side by side, like a typical navigation bar at the top of a page
• Column (Vertical) - menu items stack on top of each other, like a list in a sidebar

A row works well for a menu at the top of your page. A column makes more sense if the menu sits in a narrow sidebar.

Stretch menu

Toggle the Stretch Menu option to control how wide the menu gets:

• Yes - the menu fills the full width of the area it sits in
• No - the menu stays at its natural width, based on the length of your menu items

If your menu sits in a wide section at the top of the page, stretching it fills the space evenly. In a narrow column, you'd leave it off so the menu doesn't spread out too thin.

That covers everything the Navigation Menu widget can do. Pick your menu, choose a direction, and decide whether to stretch it. Your visitors can start navigating your site from any page.
