How to Configure Trip Tabs Settings in WP Travel Engine

Set up the tabs that appear on your trip pages - rename them, pick icons, hide the ones you don't need, add your own custom tabs, and put them in the order that makes sense for your travelers.

When a traveler opens one of your trip pages, they'll see a row of tabs across the top. These tabs split all the trip information into separate sections. Things like the overview, the day-by-day itinerary, and the cost each get their own tab. This keeps the page organized. Travelers can jump straight to whatever they care about most.

Say you run a 7-day Everest Base Camp trek. A traveler might want to check the itinerary first, then look at what's included in the price, then read some reviews. Each of those would sit in its own tab instead of everything being in one long scroll.

Finding the Trip Tabs settings

Whatever you set up here will apply to all of your trip pages. You only need to do this once.

Before you start: You'll need WP Travel Engine installed and active on your WordPress site. A plugin is an add-on that extends what your website can do. If WP Travel Engine isn't installed yet, take care of that first.

Open the WP Travel Engine settings

Look at the menu on the left side of your WordPress dashboard. This is the admin area you reach by adding /wp-admin to your website address. Find WP Travel Engine and click Settings.

Go to the General tab

At the top of the settings page, click General. This is where most of your core plugin settings live.

Find the Trip Tabs section

Scroll down the General settings page until you find the Trip Settings area. Below it, look for the Trip Tabs section. This is the panel where you control how tabs look and behave on your trip pages.

Some tabs come built in with WP Travel Engine. These are called predefined tabs. You can rename them, pick a different icon for them, or turn them off if you don't want them showing. You can't delete predefined tabs, though. That's by design, so the built-in tabs are always there if you need them again.

Custom tabs are ones you create yourself. You can rename them, reorder them, turn them on or off, and delete them whenever you like. Next, let's look at how to add one.

Adding a custom Trip Tab

Sometimes you want a tab that WP Travel Engine doesn't include by default. Say you run multi-day treks and want a tab called "What to Pack" that lists clothing and gear recommendations for your travelers. A custom tab lets you do that.

Add the new tab

In the Trip Tabs section, find the Add Tab button and click it. A new blank tab row will appear in the list.

Name it and pick an icon

In the Name field, type what you want this tab to be called (for example, "What to Pack"). Next to the name field, there's an Icon dropdown. An icon is a small picture that appears next to the tab name on your trip page. Pick one that fits the topic.

Turn it on or off

Next to the icon dropdown, you'll see a small toggle switch. A toggle switch is a little slider that you flip on or off. Flip it on to show this tab on your trip pages. Flip it off to hide it.

Reorder if needed

The order of tabs in this list is the same order travelers will see them on your trip page. To change the order, click and hold a tab, then drag it up or down to where you want it.

Save your changes

Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes. Your updated tabs will now appear on all your trip pages.

To get rid of a custom tab you no longer need, click the Delete icon next to it. This only works for custom tabs. Predefined tabs can be turned off but not deleted.
