Custom Booking Link

The Custom Booking Link add-on changes what happens when someone clicks your trip booking button. You can send travelers to another booking platform. You can also replace the button with your own HTML code.

Say you list trips on your website but process actual bookings through a platform like Rezdy or Bokun. Instead of letting travelers start booking here and then redirecting them by hand, this add-on sends them straight to your booking platform when they click the button. You can set one link for all trips first. Then you can change it for individual trips where needed.

That makes it easier to keep your booking flow consistent across your site.

What you'll need before you start

Once those pieces are in place, you are ready to turn the add-on on and check that it appears in your settings.

Installing the add-on

If you have already installed and activated the add-on, the next step is to make sure WordPress is showing it in the right place.

Checking that the add-on is active

Now you know the add-on is active. The next step is to set up the booking link for all your trips.

Setting up your booking link for all trips

These settings work across your whole site. Any trip without its own override will follow these settings.

That makes this the best place to start.

Turning it on

Turn on Allow Custom Booking Link to enable the feature across your trips.

Once this is on, WP Travel Engine can use your custom booking setup instead of the default booking flow.

With that switched on, you can choose how the booking button should behave.

Choosing how the booking button works

This choice matters because it changes what travelers see when they try to book.

Under Booking Type, choose one of these options:

External Link sends travelers to another page when they click the booking button. This works well if you take bookings in a separate platform such as Rezdy or Bokun.

Custom HTML replaces the button with your own code. HTML is the code used to place things like buttons, forms, and widgets on a page. This works well if another booking tool gives you an embed code for a form or widget.

Pick the option that matches how you already take bookings. Then fill in the matching fields below.

If you chose External Link

Use this option when you want the booking button to send people to another website or booking page.

For example, if your Annapurna trek is listed on your site but bookings happen in Rezdy, you can point the button straight to that Rezdy booking page.

• Enter a label in Button Label. This is the text travelers will see on the button. If you leave it blank, WP Travel Engine uses Book Now.
• Enter the full URL in Booking Link. This is the page travelers will go to after clicking the button.
• Turn on Open in new Tab if you want the booking page to open in a new browser tab. This helps people keep your website open while they look at the booking page.

Once this is saved, your booking button will send travelers where you want them to go.

If you chose Custom HTML

Use this option when another platform gives you code to paste into your website.

A widget is a small embedded tool that can show a form, calendar, or booking box right on the page. If your booking provider gives you a widget code, paste it into HTML Code.

If your booking setup is different for one special trip, you can override these main settings on that trip only.

Using a different booking link for one trip

This is helpful when most of your tours use one booking platform, but one special trek or partner-run package uses another.

For example, you might send most day tours to Bokun, but one multi-day partner trek needs to go to a separate booking page. In that case, leave your main setup in place and override that one trip.

That gives you a flexible setup. Next, if something does not look right, use the fixes below.

Troubleshooting

The booking button hasn't changed on my trip page

First, make sure Allow Custom Booking Link is turned on in your main settings. If that toggle is off, nothing will change on the front end.

Then clear your site cache. A cache is a saved copy of your page that speeds up loading, but it can also show an older version of your page. Also check whether that trip has its own override turned on and pointing somewhere else.

My custom link opens in the same tab and takes people away from my site

Go back to your booking link settings and turn on Open in new Tab.

After you save, the link should open in a new browser tab instead of replacing your site page.

The Custom Booking Link tab isn't showing up in my settings

The add-on may not be active.

Go to the Plugins screen in your WordPress dashboard. Deactivate the Custom Booking Link add-on. Then reactivate it. After that, check WP Travel Engine → Settings → Extensions again.

My custom HTML code isn't showing up

First, make sure you selected Custom HTML as the booking type. If External Link is selected, WP Travel Engine will ignore the HTML field.

Next, check your code for mistakes. If there is a typo or a missing closing tag, the code may not display. Then clear your cache and check the trip page again.

I set a per-trip override but it isn't working

Make sure Override Global Booking Link is turned on for that specific trip.

Then make sure you clicked Save after making changes. If it still does not work, clear your cache and check the trip page again.
