Why can’t I expand the Trip Edit sections (Overview,Itinerary etc.) in the backend?

Table of Contents

If you are unable to expand sections like Itinerary, Overview, and others while editing a trip in the WordPress dashboard, it is usually because of the editor you’re using.

Cause #

  • You are using the Classic Editor to add or edit trips.
  • From WP Travel Engine v6.1.0, the Trip Editor has been rebuilt using a React-based interface that relies on the WordPress REST API.
  • The Classic Editor does not fully support this setup, which prevents the Trip Edit sections from opening.

Solution #

To resolve this, switch to the Block Editor:

  1. Deactivate the Classic Editor plugin (if you do not need it elsewhere).
    • Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins.
    • Locate Classic Editor and click Deactivate.
  2. Switch only for trips (optional)
If you want to keep Classic Editor for posts/pages but use Block Editor for trips only:
  3. Edit trips with Block Editor
Once Classic Editor is disabled for trips, you will be able to expand and use all sections (Itinerary, Overview, etc.) without issue.
